Simien Mountains – The Roof of Africa
Rising to dramatic heights, the Simien Mountains are a UNESCO World Heritage Site often called the “Roof of Africa.” Here, jagged escarpments, deep valleys, and sweeping plateaus create breathtaking scenery. Wildlife thrives in this rugged terrain—most famously the Gelada baboon, found only in Ethiopia, alongside ibex and soaring lammergeyer vultures. Trekking through the Simien range is both a physical challenge and a visual feast.
Bale Mountains – A World Apart
Bale Mountains present a different ecosystem altogether. Vast Afro-alpine moorlands stretch across the horizon, dotted with giant lobelias and crystal-clear streams. This is the best place to spot the elusive Ethiopian wolf, the rarest canid in the world, as well as endemic birds and highland flora. The Bale Mountains are a sanctuary of biodiversity, offering serenity and discovery for those who venture into its wild heart.
